Carrie Bartlett
I have worked with children and young people for over twenty years, in both the UK and abroad, across private and charitable settings. I trained in Child Psychology at the University of East London, graduating with First Class Honours, and completed postgraduate MSc training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents at Birkbeck, University of London, where I was awarded a Merit.
My clinical work focuses on understanding the emotional and relational context of a child or young person’s difficulties, rather than viewing behaviours in isolation. I am particularly interested in how early experiences, attachment relationships, and developmental factors shape emotional wellbeing, and how therapy can support children and adolescents to develop greater understanding, resilience, and confidence over time. I have extensive experience supporting children and young people with diverse developmental and psychological profiles, including autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and complex emotional needs.
Alongside direct clinical work, I place strong importance on working thoughtfully with parents and carers, recognising the central role of family relationships in a child’s emotional life. My approach is reflective, attuned, and grounded in careful listening, with an emphasis on providing therapy that is responsive to each child’s individual needs.
Our daughter was struggling with severe anxiety and poor mental health until her sessions with Carrie.
Carrie has helped her learn what is going on behind her anxiety which in turn has improved her self‑confidence. We would highly recommend Carrie
Carrie was really easy to talk to and it helped me open up in our sessions. I actually started looking forward to our therapy. She said that I could come back if I ever wanted to and I would recommend her as a therapist
