Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy

Supporting children’s mental health

We offer Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy for those experiencing a range of difficulties including; anxiety, emotional distress, school-based difficulties, neurodiversity-related challenges, low mood, family changes and relationship difficulties.

About

Children and young people can sometimes feel overwhelmed by emotions such as anxiety, sadness or anger. This may show itself in withdrawal, difficulties at school or in friendships, school-based anxiety, emotional outbursts, or behaviours that are becoming difficult to manage at home or school.

At The Integratis Clinic, we offer specialist child and adolescent psychotherapy in Tunbridge Wells for children, teenagers and their families experiencing emotional, behavioural and neurodiversity-related difficulties.

Psychotherapy provides a consistent therapeutic relationship where children and young people can explore their experiences, understand their emotions and develop a greater understanding of themselves.

Therapy is always adapted to your child’s age, personality and developmental needs. Younger children may communicate through play and creativity, while teenagers may prefer to use conversation and reflective discussion.

Who can benefit from Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy?

Child and adolescent psychotherapy may be helpful for children and young people experiencing anxiety, low mood, difficulties managing emotions, changes in behaviour, friendship difficulties, or a sense that everyday life is becoming increasingly difficult.

Therapy can also support children who are struggling with school, including school-based anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance, difficulties with transitions, exam stress or managing the wider social and emotional demands of school. Where appropriate, we work collaboratively with schools to build a clearer understanding of your child’s needs and experiences.

We also support neurodivergent children and young people, including those with autism and ADHD. Therapy is adapted to each child’s individual needs and can help them understand themselves, build confidence and navigate the challenges they may experience in everyday life.

Our Approach

At The Integratis Clinic, we understand that emotional wellbeing is closely connected to a child’s development, relationships and physical health. Children often communicate their struggles in different ways, including through their behaviour, sleep, energy levels, confidence, relationships and their ability to manage everyday life.

Our first priority is to ensure your child is accessing the right support. We begin with a free 15-minute consultation call to understand your concerns and think about what may be most helpful.

This is followed by a 90-minute parent consultation, where we explore your child’s developmental history, your current concerns and what you hope to gain from support.

Your child will then be offered three initial assessment sessions. These sessions allow us to get to know your child and understand their individual experiences, strengths and needs. Depending on their age and developmental needs, sessions may involve talking, creativity or play.

Following assessment, we meet with parents to share our understanding and discuss recommendations. This may include child and adolescent psychotherapy, play therapy, creative teen counselling, parent support, working collaboratively with schools, or recommendations for other specialist services where appropriate.
