Creative Teen Counselling
Offering young people a flexible way to explore feelings, identity, relationships and experiences through a mixture of talking therapy and creative expression.
About
Creative Teen Counselling at Integratis Clinic supports young people aged approximately 10–18 through a combination of talking therapy and creative therapeutic approaches.
Adolescence is a time of enormous change. Teenagers are navigating growing independence, changing friendships and family relationships, increasing academic pressures, and developing a stronger sense of who they are. During this period, some young people may experience anxiety, low mood, difficulties with confidence, emotional distress, or changes in their behaviour and relationships.
Many teenagers want to talk in therapy, but it is not always easy to put complex emotions or experiences into words. Creative Teen Counselling recognises that young people often communicate in different ways. Alongside conversation, creative materials, imagery, metaphor and other expressive approaches can help a teenager explore and understand their thoughts, feelings and experiences.

Who can benefit from this service?
Creative Teen Counselling may be suitable for young people who are experiencing anxiety, persistent worries, low mood, difficulties managing emotions, challenges with friendships or relationships, school-related pressures, changes within the family, difficult life experiences, or questions around their identity and sense of self.
It can be particularly helpful for teenagers who find themselves saying “I don’t know” when asked how they feel, or who struggle to explain what is happening for them, even when they know something does not feel right.
Creative Teen Counselling is generally offered for young people aged approximately 10–18 when a combination of talking and creative therapeutic work best meets their developmental needs.
Our Approach
At Integratis Clinic, we understand that starting counselling can feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable for some teenagers. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the centre of the work, allowing a young person to explore their experiences at a pace that feels manageable for them.
Creative Teen Counselling is tailored to each individual. A teenager may spend one session talking through a difficulty at school and another using imagery or creative materials to explore emotions that are harder to describe. The therapist follows the young person’s lead, using approaches that support meaningful reflection and change.
Parents and carers are also an important part of the therapeutic process. Depending on the young person’s age and needs, parent review meetings can be offered to discuss progress and consider how best to support them outside of sessions, while respecting the young person’s privacy and the confidentiality needed for effective therapy.
