Celebrating Dr Liz’s work with the Down Syndrome community

At Integratis, we are incredibly proud of Dr Liz’s ongoing work supporting individuals and families within the Down Syndrome community through healthcare, advocacy and research.

Alongside her clinical work as a Functional Medicine Doctor, Dr Liz has played an active role in national work focused on improving health outcomes, research and support for people with Down Syndrome across the UK. She was involved in helping spearhead the passage of the Down Syndrome Act 2022 and continues to work closely with organisations and advisory groups supporting individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.

Dr Liz is Chair of the Down Syndrome Research Foundation, Trustee of the National Down Syndrome Policy Group and Founding Board Member and Network Lead for the Down Syndrome and Sleep Research Network.

Her work reflects a strong commitment to improving both physical and emotional wellbeing for people with Down Syndrome across the lifespan. This includes raising awareness of areas that are often overlooked, including sleep difficulties, gastrointestinal problems, nutrition, anxiety, emotional wellbeing and wider health inequalities experienced by the Down Syndrome community.

Dr Liz also regularly delivers talks and education for charities, parent groups and professional audiences on topics including gut health, sleep, nutrition, emotional wellbeing and practical lifestyle support for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.

Importantly, her work is grounded in a thoughtful and respectful understanding of the individual as a whole person, rather than viewing health difficulties in isolation. Functional medicine aims to better understand how areas such as sleep, nutrition, gut health, inflammation, stress responses and overall physical wellbeing may affect day-to-day functioning and quality of life.

At Integratis, we value healthcare that is compassionate, joined-up and genuinely person-centred, and we are proud to have Dr Liz’s expertise and advocacy work as part of our clinic.
