Certified Play Therapist and Creative Teen Counsellor

I am a Certified Play Therapist and Certified Play and Creative Arts Counsellor of Children and Young People, registered with Play Therapy UK (PTUK 201802728). I have worked therapeutically with children and young people since 2019, following a twenty-year career as a primary school teacher. This background has given me a strong understanding of child development, learning and the emotional experiences children may encounter both in school and at home.

I support children and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional and developmental difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, bereavement, trauma, family changes and neurodiversity-related challenges. I have a particular interest in how play, creativity and metaphor can help children communicate their experiences, make sense of their feelings and develop greater emotional regulation and resilience.

My therapeutic approach is warm, attuned and child-led. Through non-directive Play Therapy and integrative creative arts counselling, I create a safe and consistent therapy room where children and young people can express themselves in ways that feel natural to them and at a pace that feels comfortable.

I believe meaningful therapeutic work involves understanding each child within the context of their relationships, family life and wider experiences. I work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals, offering regular reviews focused on therapeutic themes, progress and emotional wellbeing, while always respecting the child or young person’s privacy and autonomy.

It is a privilege to work alongside children, young people and their families. My aim is to provide thoughtful, responsive support that helps children feel understood, strengthens their confidence and supports their emotional wellbeing.

  • Our daughter was struggling with severe anxiety and poor mental health until her sessions with Carrie. Carrie has helped her learn what was going on behind her anxiety which in turn has improved her self‑confidence. We would highly recommend Carrie

  • Carrie was really easy to talk to and it helped me open up in our sessions. I actually started looking forward to our therapy. She said that I could come back if I ever wanted to and I would recommend her as a therapist because she really helped me.

  • Carrie’s sessions helped us gain a much deeper understanding of our son’s needs. She guided us with patience, clarity, and empathy, giving us practical tools that have continued to help us support him day‑to‑day. Her dedication was evident in everything she did—Carrie was always willing to go above and beyond to ensure the best possible care for our son We are incredibly grateful for the positive impact she has had on our lives. I cannot recommend her highly enough; her support has been invaluable, and we feel very fortunate to have worked with her.
